Firm for intensified effort to curb fraud

A local wealth management consulting firm, Sycamore Consult, has tipped industry players to enhance enforcement of ethical conduct among employees to help curb corruption and fraud.
This was said Thursday during an online conference the firm hosted under the theme ‘Unwavering and Unshaken in the Midst of Ethical Decay.’
Sycamore Consult Business Development Manager, Mwai Makwakwa, said moral decay among some workers in the industry has led to increased levels of corruption and fraud.
He said increased cases of the vice have been reported even in the private sector and it requires intensified effort to address. “Sometimes, these issues stem from one’s background and sometimes it has to do with weak controls in companies,” Makwakwa said.
Commenting on the training, Makwakwa commended participants rating their response as positive.
The online conference was held as the government put in place restrictions of gatherings to help contain Covid-19 spread.
Keynote Speak e r during the conference, Morgan Tembo, called on organisations to enforce adherence to.
Ten companies participated in the day-long online meeting.
