Firm to host Malawi-UK business link conference
An initiative called Malawi-United Kingdom Business Link in collaboration with Malawi’s Business Development Facility (BDF) have organised an international conference aimed at providing businesses in Malawi and the United Kingdom with a platform to network and explore business partnerships.
BDF Malawi coordinator, Gabriel Kamanga, said the conference – to take place in Blantyre on May 19 and 20, 2016, will be held under the theme “Business Beyond Malawi” and will also provide Malawi and UK businesses with necessary information pertaining to securing funding for their businesses.
“It will identify UK-based businesses and connect them with Malawi businesses. This is a good marketing platform for Malawi businesses,” said Kamanga.
The theme, said Kamanga, promotes business growth, exports and international trade.
He said while the conference will focus a lot on international trade matters, it will also help Malawian businesses leaders to also realise their potential within the remit of the Malawi Market.
“It will include aspects of capacity building, as well as ideas about exporting goods in what is a challenging global market,” he said.
“This is good news for Malawi and can favorably contribute to the Malawi government’s agenda of attracting foreign investment into the country. If it is well received by Malawians, we should expect the fruits of this arrangement to make a positive impact on our national economy due to enhanced foreign exchange,” he said.
According to Kamanga, the Malawi- UK Business Link was established in the UK to provide trusted connections and information on funding, as well as a networking and marketing platform for businesses and entrepreneurs both in Malawi and United Kingdom.
“The initiative has grown fast with a good measure of networking influence,” said Kamanga.
