Fisd seeks investors for Area 43 mall project

One of the country’s firms, Fisd Limited has said it is looking for investors to partner it in its Area 43 Shopping Mall project.
The K14 billion state-of-the-art mall project is expected to start in June and will be completed in December 2021.
Fisd Managing Director, Frank Mwenechanya, said the firm bought a piece of land in Lilongwe’s Area 43 in 2017 and that the initial plan was to develop it into a lodge.
He said residents of Area 43 through their community social WhatsApp group suggested that the owner of the plot be consulted for consideration to develop the land into a shopping mall.
Mwenechanya said the proposed mall is expected to have a supermarket, restaurants, banks, shops, cinemas, gym and many other facilities.
“This is an exciting project for the people of Malawi. We ask like-minded investors to partner us in this ambitious project which is viable,” Mwenechanya said.
Lilongwe City Council Chief Executive Officer, John Chome, described the project as a game-changer for Lilongwe and Malawi.
Chome said, instead of building very big mansions, Malawians could invest some of their resources in projects such as the Area 43 Shopping Mall which would help them realise more money in future.
He said the shopping mall will add beauty to the City of Lilongwe in addition to giving residents an alternative place to do their shopping.
“We would like to thank Fisd Limited for coming up with such a project. The city of Lilongwe needs beautiful infrastructure to make it look attractive,” Chome said.
The coming of Area 18 Mall will bring the number of malls in Lilongwe to four after Gateway Mall, Lilongwe City Mall and Game complex.
