Fish Eagles top Mzuzu FMB table
Under-20 League defending champions, Fish Eagles FC, look set to defend the Northern Region title after finishing the first round top of the table with 36 points in Mzuzu.
Northern Region Youth Football Committee vice general secretary, Edson Msopole, praised the team describing it as a disciplined side, hungry for goals.
He said it was not surprising that Fish Eagles striker Evance Yasini has finished with 24 goals as top goal scorer because they play fantastic football. Second top goal scorer is Benjamin Luhanga of Police Youth with 14 goals.
However, Msopole warned Fish Eagles against relaxing, saying they can easily be overtaken by Mzuzu Police Youth which is second with 27 points.
Chibavi FC has a similar number of points but fall on the third position due to an inferior goal difference.
Blackpool Youth, Lawrence Waya Academy, Moyale Youth, Flying Eagles YIM- Net, Chiputula United, Lamya and Sanwecka FCs are on positions four, five, six, seven, eight, nine and 10 in that order.
Young Buffaloes anchor the table with six points in the 14-member league.
Msopole urged teams to prepare for second round, which starts next week, thoroughly as relaxing could cost them honours.
