Flames coach Ernest Mtawali has recalled midfielders Robert Ng’ambi and Joseph Kamwendo for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea next month.
The two seasoned players were out of the team’s set-up for eight games under Mtawali, but make a comeback with the need for the coach to blend experience with new blood.
Ng’ambi is on top form with his South Africa Premier Soccer League side, Platinum Stars, where he has netted four goals.
Kamwendo is back at Be Forward Wanderers, hoping to secure a contract for the new season.
Nine foreign-based players have been recalled, including Mozambique-based striker Zicco Mkanda, but South Africa-based Atusaye Nyondo and Esau Kanyenda are missing.
There are 15 home-based players on the provisional list whose notable inclusions are Ernest Kakhobwe (Azam Tigers), Ernest Tambe and Jabulani Linje from Be Forward Wanderers).
Conspicuously missing among the locals are Sankhani Mkandawire, Yamikani Chester, Levison Maganizo and Richard Chipuwa, who made the 2015 Cecafa Cup trip to Ethiopia.
