Malawi National Football Team Coach, Ronny van Geneugden, has appealed for support when the Flames host Madagascar in the second leg of the African Nations Championship (Chan) qualifier at Bingu National Stadium Saturday.
The Belgian said fans should show their unwavering support to spur the Flames to the next round.
Geneugden told the media after Wednesday’s training session that his charges were geared for the test.
“The feeling of being together, the fans and the players will push us to a nice victory and qualification to the next round. The mood in camp is amazing and with the support from the fans, we will qualify for the next round,” he said.
Geneugden will lead the Flames in his third match since he was appointed early this month.
In his first match, the Flames drew 0-0 against Kenya’s Harambee Stars recently before a 0-1 loss to Madagascar last Saturday.
Flames Vice Captain, Lucky Malata, on Wednesday said the players were in a good mood ahead of the match.
“The preparations are going on well and we are determined to win the match. We know it will not be an easy game. We want the fans to come in large numbers and support us throughout the game,” the Be Forward Wanderers defender said.
Geneugden’s charges need to score two goals against Madagascar’s Barea to proceed in the championship for home-based players.
Malawi beefed up their squad with veteran midfielder, Joseph Kamwendo, Isaac Kaliyati, Binwell Katinji, Ishmael Thindwa, Robin Ngalande, Chisomo Mpachika and Micium Mhone.
