Flames quartet shines in Costa do Sol pre-season

Malawian players have made an instant impact at Mozambican giants Costa do Sol after impressive performances for the club during a pre-season tour in South Africa.
Costa have fallen in love with Malawian players, having signed former Baroka FC striker Richard Mbulu, former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers midfielder Yamikani Chester, Red Lions midfielder Chikoti Chirwa and Moyale Barracks midfielder Llyod Njaliwa.
According to information on the Costa do Sol official website, the quartet has scored goals for the Maputo-based club during the series of friendly matches in Nelspruit, South Africa recently.
Mbulu, who re-joined Costa for a third spell, scored in a 12-0 victory over Mahotas Railway. Chester was also on target for his new employers. The other goals came from Danilo (brace), Lucky, Isac (five), Nandinho and Mexer.
Costa also drew 2-2 with FC destiny in which Mbulu and Njaliwa registered their names on the scoresheet. Mbulu and Njaliwa also scored for the Mozambique-based club in a 4-0 win over Kazamanyena All Stars. He scored a brace in a 4-1 victory over Incomati of Xinavane, with Lucky and Isac scoring the other goals.
The former Mafco striker also found the back of the net as Costa beat May 1st, with Nilton and Isac also on target.
Mbulu has scored in almost all the matches during pre-season.
However, Mbulu was not readily available for his comment yesterday.
Chester, in a recent interview, said he was settling well in Mozambique.
“Everything is going on well. Teammates have supported me,’’ Chester said.
If the pre-season performance is anything to go by, the Malawian quartet are likely to help the former Mocambola League winners next season, which is expected to start next month.
The performance of the players in Mozambique could be good news for Flames coach Mario Marian Marinica as he needs all players to be fit head of Egypt match.
