Flames coach Young Chimodzi says his charges are ready to face Mozambique’s Mambas this evening in Cosafa Cup quarterfinal at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
The Flames had their last training session on Sunday afternoon where the coach concentrated on rectifying the shortfalls he noted when Malawi lost to South Africa 2-1 in a training match on Friday.
Chimodzi said he was happy that his charges had responded well to training after the 2-1 loss and was optimistic that Malawi would carry the day.
“All is well here and I am impressed with the way the boys have responded in the past two days and I am sure with the fighting spirit in the camp, we will overcome Mozambique,” Chimodzi said.
The coach will likely use McDonald Harawa in goals while Limbikani Mzava will marshal the defence alongside John Lanjesi, Lucky Malata and Yamikani Fodya.
Caps United star Gerald Phiri, who scored for Malawi in the Friday training match against South Africa , is likely to be given a role partnering John Banda, Chimango Kayira and Frank Banda in midfield.
Upfront the coach has a number of choices. He might use Mighty Wanderers striker Muhammad Sulumba and Robin Ngalande.
