The country’s soccer cathedral, the Kamuzu Stadium, is expected to be full to capacity when the Flames host the Warriors of Zimbabwe in the 2017 Orange Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Tickets for game started selling on Wednesday at various points.
There was a huge turnout at selling points in Blantyre such as the Kamuzu Stadium, Blantyre Youth Centre and Chiwembe Technical Centre.
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) competitions manager, Gomezgani Zakazaka, said supporters turned up to buy the tickets before the selling points started the process.
“We started selling the tickets around 9am and when it was around 4pm, almost a quarter of the printed tickets were sold,” he said.
Zakazaka was optimistic that by the end of business today, more tickets would be sold.
Meanwhile, the main supporters committee of the Flames led by Yona Green Malunga, said all was set to cheer the boys throughout the game.
“We are meeting today around 4pm for rehearsals, we will be joined by our colleagues from Lilongwe and Mzuzu,” Malunga said.
“We thank Carlsberg for the attire they have donated to us and we will make sure that the team receive the support before and after the match.”
