Malawi national football team will leave in two groups for Uganda to play a strength-testing match against the Cranes in Kampala on Tuesday.

Each group comprises five players and three officials, and the first delegation was expected to leave yesterday through Chileka International Airport while the second group is scheduled to leave today.

The Flames Team Manager, James Sangala, said the team will leave in two groups following late communication from the airliner that they cannot accommodate the team at once.

Sangala said Mozambique-based players, Frank Banda and Charles Swini, who were expected to join the squad yesterday, would travel with the last group that will join their colleagues in Kampala tomorrow.

“We planned to leave together on Saturday but we were communicated that we will depart on Friday [today]. It might affect us in one way or another,” he said.

Other foreign-based players namely Captain Limbikani Mzava, who plays for South Africa’s Premier Soccer League side, Golden Arrows, joined camp on Tuesday alongside Baroka FC’s Robin Ngalande and Portugal-based Richard Mbulu.
