With less than six weeks to go before Football Association of Malawi (Fam) goes to polls, incumbent president Walter Nyamilandu and Super League of Malawi (Sulom) president Fleetwood Haiya have not openly declared their interest.
Both Nyamilandu and Haiya have been linked with the Fam presidency but the two are still exercising caution four days after the nomination process started on Wednesday.
The process will officially close on November 15.
However, in separate interviews Sunday both Nyamilandu and Haiya dodged the question.
Nyamilandu, who has served as Fam president for close to 20 years, said he will announce his position soon.
“I will make my position very clear during this window of nominations so that there is no doubt in the mind of the members,” Nyamilandu said.
On his part, Haiya asked for more time before commenting on the matter.
“Let us wait until next week. For now, it will be difficult for me to comment,” Haiya said.
While Nyamilandu and Haiya have kept a tight lid, some individuals have already declared their interest to contest for various positions.
