Last year’s runners-up in the Ka Jive Dance competition Floor Steppers on Saturday afternoon failed to make it to the grand finale after being evicted alongside six other contestants.

Floor Steppers have won the hearts of many with their dance since they came to the limelight and they were among the favourites to make it to the grand finale and represent Blantyre.

But it was not to be during the eviction show for Blantyre held at Alpacinos Club 360 where the group was booted out alongside Jay Squad, Dance Anomix, Three Two One, Fearless Crew, Rockstar Dance Crew and Danger Crew.

The contestants, who made it through on Saturday and will represent Blantyre in the final, are Twist Dance Crew, which also made it in the top six last year, Ikuba and Limbanazo Dance Crew.

The three, who won the hearts of the judges Talumba Chirwa popularly known as TC, Jean Chalungama and Panther will battle it out with Salama African Dance Crew, Adobe Dance Crew and The Incredibles who made it through in Lilongwe.

TC said the battle to select the three representatives in Blantyre was tough, especially on the last slot which had the contestants such as Floor Steppers, Limbanazo Crew and Jay Squad.

“For the other slots it was easy for us to come up with the winners Twist and Ikuba but for the last slot it was very difficult. We argued but then we finally settled for Limbanazo,” he said.

He described Floor Steppers as a wonderful group which did well on the afternoon showcasing their unique dances but he was quick to point out that “it was the same routine.”

“We expected them to put in that wow factor which was not there, everything was on point but there was nothing new while Limbanazo coloured their act with a lot of things,” said TC.

During the eviction show which was dominated by the youths, people also had time to win different prizes, including smart phones and selfie sticks courtesy of Airtel Malawi who are the main sponsors of the Ka Jive Dance competition running under the slogan Tivine Zimenezi.

Timescom Business Manager, Heggar Kalowekamo, said they were happy with the way the eviction went on and that now people should look forward to the finale.
