FMB aids needy students

Malawi Stock Exchange listed commercial bank, FMB, on Friday presented cheques to over 50 students from Chichiri Secondary School and Joshua Secondary School in Blantyre to help them pay their tuition fees.

FMB has been running a bursary programme for needy students for over 10 years.

Chichiri Secondary School received K213,000 while Joshua Secondary School got K625,000.

Presenting the cheques, FMB Retail Development Executive, Allan Nasoro, said the bank believes education is the key to success of any individual as well as any nation.

Nasoro said that is why the bank has been helping needy students with tuition fees for the past 10 years to ensure they remain in school.

“As a bank, we value education. We believe that if the needy students get education today, they will grow into future FMB customers,” Nasoro said.

Chichiri Secondary School Deputy Head teacher, Diston Gawani, hailed FMB for its continued support towards the bursary programme.

Gawani said his school has many students who struggle to pay the tuition fees set by the government.

“As such, we value assistance from firms such as FMB and we pray that God will continue blessing the bank so that it grows and continues helping our needy students,” Gawani said.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Richard Magombo, of Chichiri Secondary School, promised the bank to continue working hard so that the money is not put to waste.
