First Merchant Bank (FMB) has handed over borewells worth K4 million to Central High School in Blantyre whose construction it funded to help address problems of water being experienced at the school.

FMB head of marketing and corporate social responsibility, Sylvia Mataka, said despite the tough operating environment prevailing in the country, FMB will continue to be a responsible corporate citizen as it owes its success to Malawians.

“When we heard about the water problems the school was having, it was natural for us to step in because we realise how critical water supply is to a school facility,” she said.

Central High School administrator, Harilal Pillai thanked FMB for the support.

The Chartered Institute of Marketers early this year awarded FMB the Corporate Social Investment of the Year 201
