FMB in K1.5 million CSR campaign
FMB on Friday donated assorted items worth K1.5 million to various orphanages across the country.
Speaking when she made a donation to Friends of Ndirande Aids Support Organisation (Frenaso) and Orphan Care Centre in Ndirande, Blantyre, FMB Head of Marketing, Sylvia Mataka, said the bank decided to reach out to orphans as one way of celebrating with them during the festive season.
The donated items included soya and maize bags, snacks, fizzy drinks and shoes.
“We often go to hospitals where we visit children and women who had just delivered. This year, we decided to visit orphanages in the three regions of the country because we have never reached out to children in orphanages,” Mataka said.
Mataka said FMB wanted to reach out to under-privileged children as one way of ensuring that some of their needs are met.
Frenaso Director, Ethel Inadi, said the donation would help the organisation meet some of its needs.
“We have been facing challenges in terms of feeding and, as such, we will be able to cater for the children we look after,” Inadi said.
Frenaso has 90 children and runs youth and women empowerment programmes, home-based care and feeding programmes.
