President Lazarus Chakwera braved the hot weather conditions when he took part in this year’s annual military veterans thanksgiving golf tournament at the Lilongwe Golf Club Friday.
Chakwera, alongside Vice President Saulos Chilima, played all the 18 holes.
The tournament was organised to raise funds for old soldiers, who include those that participated in the World Wars that were fought between 1914 and 1918 and 1939 and 1945.
At least 56 teams composed of two golfers each participated in the event.
MDF Commander General Vincent Nundwe also took part in the event.
Soldiers from Tanzania People’s Defence Force also graced the tournament.
