Silver Strikers forward Foster Biton is set to be sidelined for four weeks due to an injury.
Biton was stretchered off in the first half as Silver drew 0-0 with Kamuzu Barracks in a TNM Super League match at Civo Stadium on Saturday. Rodwell Robert replaced the former Blue Eagles striker.
Silver Chief Executive Officer Thokozani Chimbali confirmed Sunday that the striker would be out for a month.
“The team doctor briefed us that Biton needs at least four weeks. It is a big blow to the team but we have a good squad capable of withstanding the heat,” Chimbali said.
Biton has struggled to replicate his Eagles form at the Bankers due lack of fitness and form concerns.
He missed the better part of the first round due to an injury.
Apart from Biton, Silver have midfielder Jack Chiona and defender Trevor Kalema on the injury list.
Silver were without top goal scorer Maxwell Phodo and defender Chisomo Mpachika due to illness.
Phodo (12 goals) and Stain Davie (eight goals) have been Silver’s top goal scorers this season.
Following the goal-less draw against KB, Silver remain top of the table with 40 points from 19 matches, one point above second-placed Nyasa Big Bullets from the same number of matches.
However, Super League of Malawi is yet to make its determination on the match between Silver and Red Lions which ended prematurely at 0-0 after the soldiers protested a penalty.
