It was early Christmas for four people who won a Renault Kwids vehicle each in the Shoprite Malawi Favourite Brands promotion.
Three other lucky customers went away with three motorcycles at the end of the promotion.
According to Shoprite’s Human Resources Manager in Malawi, Mathews Mwase, the promotion achieved its purpose of giving back to their customers.
Speaking during the prize presentation ceremony held in Lilongwe, Mwase said that Shoprite grew its sales by 30 percent in March and April following a successful run of the promotion.
“We feel that there is an impact. I cannot talk about the figures but in percentage terms, we have grown our sales by 20 to 30 percent. The promotion was sorely aimed at giving back to our customers,” Mwase said.
He went on to say that the promotion helped to boost sales which had slowed after Christmas and New Year festivities owing to a corresponding slow performance of the economy.
One of the winners was a 10-year-old Savittah Banda.
