Attacker Francisco Madinga has passed a medical and completed the signing of his three-year contract with Dila Gori FC in Georgia, Europe.
Madinga on Sunday confirmed that he was officially a Gori player after agreeing to sign from Be Forward Wanderers last month.
“My medical was a success. I have sealed the deal and they have handed me jersey 11. I will be playing behind the strikers as was the case at Wanderers but of course, at this level, I have to be ready to play wherever the coach wants depending on the nature of the game,” he said.
A medical involves cardiac screening, echo monitor and heart health questionnaire that might include blood tests and fitness checks. A medical also involves urine tests.
The former Namiwawa FC player has since featured in three friendlies but is yet to score.
“The game is a bit faster here. They like running with the ball a lot, so there has to be some sort of adjusting on my part. Off the field, there are communication challenges as most of the players and the coach do not speak English. During training, he communicates to me through an interpreter,” Madinga said.
Gori spotted Madinga when he featured for Malawi under-20 national team at the Cosafa Youth Championship in Zambia last year.
Of late, other players from Malawi such as Charles Petro, Hassan Kajoke and Precious Sambani have also been invited for trials in Europe.
Petro is undergoing month-long trials in Moldova with Sheriff Tiraspol whereas Kajoke and Sambani are destined for trials in Ukraine.
