Flames midfielder Francisco Madinga has been linked with a move and Tanzanian clubs Simba SC or Azam FC ahead of January’s transfer window.

Madinga’s contract with Dila Gori of Georgia is set to expire later this month.

This means the former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers player is free to talk to a club of his choice.

However, the versatile Flames player could be heading to Tanzania with Simba and Azam reportedly interested in the star.

One of the football journalists based in Ghana, Micky Jnr, wrote on his Twitter account that Madinga had been in Tanzania for the past few days.

“He is being wanted by both Azam and Simba SC. Madinga can play as a winger or striker,” he wrote on his account.

However, Madinga was not readily available for his comment.

In a recent interview, Madinga admitted that he struggled for game-time due to injury this season.

Madinga scored two goals for Gori.

If the deal materialises, Madinga will follow the footsteps of compatriot Peter Banda, who swapped Europe for Tanzania when he joined Simba SC at the end of his six-month contract with Moldovan side Tiraspol Sheriff.

Madinga starred for Malawi during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in Cameroon.

He provided assists for Gabadinho Mhango’s goals in the 2-1 win over Zimbabwe in the group stages.

But he came off the bench in the 2-1 victory over Ethiopia in Afcon qualifiers at Bingu National Stadium in June this year.
