French Drama contest November
The French Drama competition spearheaded by Jacaranda Foundation and the French Embassy in Malawi in collaboration with the Association of French Teachers in Malawi has announced that the regional and grand final of the contest will be held in November.
According to Poya Chapweteka, who is a member of the organising team and Director of French Studies at the Maison de la France and Jacaranda Cultural Centre, the 29th edition of the competition will attract 22 schools.
“Twenty-two schools have registered for the competition and we are starting with the regional finals before the grand finals,” Chapweteka said.
He said the theme for the 29th edition is Quisème le vent récolte la tempête, which means, you reap what you sow.
Chapweteka said based on the theme, every participating school will produce a 25 to 30 minutes play in French.
He said the regional competition will be held in the four cities of Mzuzu, Lilongwe, Zomba and Blantyre on November 12 before the grand final on November 26.
Chapweteka said eight schools will qualify to the regional final.
He said different prizes will be given out to the winners and these include a trophy, bicycles and books among many others.
The 2015 winners were Stella Maris Secondary School while the 2014 winners were Dedza Secondary School.
