CONCENTRATING ON JOB AT HAND—Mwase

Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has said it would offer Flames assistant coaches full-time job contracts.

Last week, Fam announced the hiring of Meke Mwase as the Flames mentor on a one-year contract following his promising performance at the Cosafa Cup in South Africa where the team finished with silver medals in Plate Division.

Mwase has hinted that he would maintain Silver Strikers mentor Lovemore Fazili and his Be Forward Wanderers counterpart Bob Mpinganjira as his backroom staff.

Fam General Secretary, Alfred Gunda, said they would like the coaches to deliver; hence, giving them permanent jobs.

“This time around, the assistant coaches will be on full-time basis as we want to avoid wrangles with the clubs they work for. We have done this looking at the move of going together as a unit, with coach Mwase being the steward,” Gunda said.

Fazili said he was yet to decide on the Flames job.

“Yes, we discussed on the phone and we are meeting with them [Fam] on Friday. We started the mission together with Mwase and we must finish it but I need to check the contract from Fam and compare with what I have at my club,” Fazili said.

Mpinganjira said he would discuss with Mwase and other stakeholders before he decides on the offer.

“Let me come back to you once I finish consulting,” Mpinganjira said.
