Gabadihno in PSL Golden Boot race

Flames striker Gabadihno Mhango scored a brace for Orlando Pirates as his side defeated Black Leopards 3-1 in the Absa Premier Soccer League at Orlando Stadium Saturday.

It was a debut match for Pirates new Coach, Josef Zinnbauer, after replacing caretaker coach Rulani Mokwena two weeks ago.

Mhango has now taken his goal tally to six in the PSL this season having moved to the Soweto giants from Bidvest Wits.

Mhango is on the list of top goal scorers with six goals, just three goals behind leading goal scorer Peter Shalule of Highlands Park.

According to Times Live, Mhango scored a brace in the second half to hand Pirates a victory heading into the Christmas break.

“Innocent Maela’s 22nd minute opening goal and Mhango’s second half brace was all the Buccaneers needed to win their fifth league match. It was Lesedi Kapinga who created Leopards equaliser by last season top goal scorer Mwape Musonda on the hour mark before Mhango restored Bucs lead three minutes later.

Mhango followed that up with his sixth goal of the season from the penalty spot after he managed to trick the referee Abongile Tom, who thought the Bucs striker was fouled by Leopards keeper Jonas Mendez inside the Area in the 72nd minute,” reported Times Live.

The win has pushed Pirates to position five on the log table with 20 points from 15 games, 14 points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs with a game in hand.

Elsewhere in the PSL, Flames attacking midfielder Gerald Phiri Junior and striker Richard Mbulu were in the starting line-up as Baroka FC lost 1-0 at home to Stellenbosch at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Baroka remain winless on home soil this season.
