Malawi National Football Team striker Frank Gabadinho Mhango is out of the Caf Confederation Cup after his South African DStv Premiership side Orlando Pirates suffered a 4-0 loss to Raja Casablanca in the second-leg of the quarterfinal match on Sunday evening.

Mhango came in as a second-half substitute and immediately tested the home side with a header from a set-play delivery, but he could only draw a save from Raja’s goalkeeper Anas Zniti.

The former Nyasa Big Bullets forward said it was disappointing to lose with a wide margin.

“We are out but life has to go on. We wanted to reach the semifinals but we have failed. We need to start preparing for the next season’s assignments as we are also struggling in the league,” Mhango said.

Meanwhile, Mhango’s Pirates will face Flames’ captain Limbikani Mzava’s side AmaZulu on Thursday in a league game.

Following the win, Raja have progressed to the last four with a comprehensive 5-1 aggregate victory and will meet Pyramids in the semifinals.
