Gabadinho Mhango does it again

Flames striker Frank Gabadinho Mhango is living his dream at Amazulu FC after scoring the winner in a 2-1 victory over Cape Town City in the DStv Premiership at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

This was Gabadinho’s second goal for the club in two consecutive matches since he moved to Amazulu from Orlando Pirates.

After scoring a 2-1 victory over SuperSport United on Wednesday, the Malawian was named in the starting line up alongside Bonginkosi Ntuli, Thembela Sikhakhane and Makhehlene Makhaula.

The Flames striker did not disappoint and was lively for the better part of the match.

He scored a stunning goal in the 52nd minute to secure maximum points for Amazulu.

Mayo scored for City nine minutes before the break but Augustine Kwem equalised for Amazulu.

“Usuthu had confidence going forward early in the second stanza, as Mhango [Gaba] completed the turnaround with a sensational strike on the turn from the edge of the box that found the top corner,” reported

Gabadinho, who was reduced to sideshow at Pirates last season, made history by becoming the first Malawian to score for five clubs in the DStv Premiership having played for Pirates, Bloemfontein Celtic, Golden Arrows and Bidvest Wits.

In an interview from his Durban base, Gabadinho said he was enjoying his football career at Amazulu.

“It feels great to help the team collect maximum points. I am happy here,” the former Nyasa Big Bullets striker said.

The victory means Amazulu are second on the log table with seven points from three matches, just behind leaders Richards Bay on goal difference.

Gabadinho is currently the only Malawian player in the DStv Premiership this season after Limbikani Mzava and Richard Mbulu were both released at the end of their contracts at Amazulu and Baroka FC respectively.
