The Flames and Bidvest Wits forward, Frank ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango, has been nominated for Soccer Laduma Player of the Season Award in South Africa.
South Africa leading soccer publication, Soccer Laduma, nominated the former Nyasa Big Bullets and Bloemfontein Celtic star, who has scored nine goals in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) this season.
Mhango is the third leading scorer in the PSL, three goals behind Tendai Ndoro of Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City’s Lebohang Manyama.
Fans will vote for the winner through the publication’s website www. soccerladuma.co.za.
There is no monetary prize for the award but a trophy, courtesy of the publication.
Other nominees include Ndoro, Lorenzo Gordinho, Lebohang Maboe, Tiyani Mabunda, Aubrey Ngoma, Percy Tau, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Khama Billiat, Itulemelang Khune and Hlompho Kekana.
Gabadinho is the only Malawian nominated for the award this season.
According to the publication, fans must register with Soccer Laduma website to cast a vote.
There are three rounds of voting.
After each round, players with the least votes will be sieved out.
Fans have six votes to cast—one per day.
Nominees for the PSL’s official awards are yet to be announced.
Mhango helped Wits to win the MTN 8 Cup recently, his first gold medal since moving to the PSL in 2013.
Last season, he spent six months on loan at Golden Arrows where he also scored vital goals.
In his debut season in 2013 at Celtic, the forward won Celtic Players Player of the Season and Top Goal Scorer.
