Gabadinho scores as Amazulu hold Chiefs

ON TARGET—Mhango

Flames striker Frank Gabadinho Mhango was on target as Amazulu earned a 1-1 draw away to Kaizer Chiefs in the first leg of the 2022 MTN 8 semifinal Sunday.

The draw means Amazulu have a slight advantage heading into the second leg slated for October 23 this year. Mhango opened the scoring for Amazulu with a cool finish in the 14th minute of the match.

But Amazulu were reduced to 10 men when Veluyeke Zulu was sent for an early shower in the 54th minute of the match. The numerical disadvantage was felt when Chiefs levelled the scores through Keegan Dolly in the 61st minute of the game.

However, the Malawian was not readily available for his comments Sunday.

Mhango moved to Amazulu from Orlando Pirates before the start of the season. He has scored four goals for Amazulu in the DStv Premiership this season. At Pirates, he struggled for game last season despite winning the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot Award with 16 goals alongside Peter Shalulile of Namibia in 2020.
