Playing off a handicap of five, Kambale shot a gross score of 155 after playing on 36 holes, leaving out his strongest contender Harry Scordis on second and Chimwemwe Chimwaza on third, respectively.

In his victory speech, Kambale said golf is a challenging game that requires a combination of physical and mental strength.

“It feels good to win. Of course, Chimwemwe [Chimwaza] was outstanding, but he needs to master how to complete his game after a good start. My playing partners were equally fantastic,” he said.

In the ladies’ category, Mbilizi emerged winner after beating her closest rival Bose Kamphulusa on second and Maria Tandwe on third position, respectively.

Mbilizi hailed her partners for a great play on the field, saying their performance encouraged her to play better.

Winners went away with trophies, Chipiku shopping vouchers and prizes from Coca-Cola.

Coca-Cola Beverages Africa Regional Sales Manager Chimwemwe Khonje said the tournament underscored the company’s continued commitment towards development of the game in the country.

“We are proud of our contribution towards the development of golf through tournaments such as the BSC Closed Championship. As such, we will always be a golf advocate as it remains a professional sport that players across the country enjoy,” Khonje said.

BSC Golf Captain Honest Chirwa thanked the sponsors Coca-Cola for a great tournament and appreciated golfers for their participation.
