Galaxy S8 trumps iPhone 7

Are you in the market for a top-notch premium smartphone and price is no issue to you? Let your heart not be troubled; you need not look any farther than iPhone 7 or Samsung Galaxy S8.

But which one is better? You may be asking. As is always the case with gadgets, magnificence is the eyes of the beholder. That said, a few tips may help you to make a decision that you will not regret.

Galaxy S8 sands out in terms of appearance. It is a gorgeous love bird and has redefined a smartphone; has very minimal space that the LCD does not cover. This makes it look uncut and complete. I abhor areas of the phone face that sit there and do nothing. The tech savvy calls those ugly areas, bezels.

Galaxy S8’s LCD is crisp and sharp and is called infinity display and is the first of its kind. When asleep, iPhone 7 does not even snow, it is as quiet as death. Samsung Galaxy S8, does not sleep; it only rests and while on Sabbath, it can still tell you time and date and labors to show notifications.

You can configure Galaxy S8 to show some other things and it won’t whine. All I am trying to say in my imperfect prose is that Galaxy S8 is always on. If you are a tech junkie like yours truly, you would love Galaxy S8’s ability to multitask.

Yes, you can be on WhatsApp and Facebook at the same time with the screen split into two halves. My favourite British-born designer, the chief architect for Apples, Jonny Ive has not yet figured out how to do this on iPhone 7.

With all that, the expectation is that Galaxy S8 battery draw is gigantic. Nope. If you run battery drain test on both, you would discover to your chagrin that by the time iPhone 7 bids you farewell, Samsung Galaxy S8 would still hold 40 percent battery juice.

And as Jobs would say, one more thing; Galaxy S8 charges forty minutes faster than iPhone 7. In this age, privacy is prime; there are certain things that are only between you and your god. Galaxy S8 graces a secure folder that is a farm for files and apps that can only be accessed by you. This is a very handy tool for unfaithful spouses. iPhone 7 is for saints; it does not have this facility.

You can change wallpapers on iPhone 7, but that is about it! Samsung Galaxy S8 allows you to change texture of icons and even the icons themselves. iPhone 7 has no 3.5mm headphone jack port, no SD slot and no face recognition software. Galaxy S8 has all those. You do not have to memorise a passcode or some pattern to logon, Samsung Galaxy knows you by face.

I will repeat, issues of beauty are matters of the heart and are not idiosyncratic. The choice is yours. All I can say is that when you do, don’t forget to “MO626” my commission. Who told you that all this is for free?
