Moyale Barracks FC forward, Gastin Simkonda, featured in the team’s recent friendly match against Chiputula Select at Mzuzu Stadium, raising hope of his come back next season.
The forward missed the just-ended season after he broke his neck during a road accident he was involved in alongside Boyboy Chima and Lovemore Mitengo in Mzimba last March.
During the friendly match, Simkonda scored Moyale’s opener from the penalty spot in a 3-1 win.
He could not, however, confirm if he would be available next season.
“I was restricted from publicising the progress of my injury. So, let me reserve my comment on that,” Simkonda said.
Last season, Moyale Coach, Nicholas Mhango, hinted that Simkonda might be available for selection next season.
The 24-year-old striker was an unused substitute in Moyale’s 0-1 defeat to Kamuzu Barracks in the Fisd Challenge Cup final played in Lilongwe last month.
Simkonda was the TNM Super League’s top goalscorer in 2014 with 18 goals.
