General Alliance gives Icam K3 million

General Alliance Insurance limited on Wednesday donated K3 million to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (Icam) to go towards its annual conference, which started on Thursday in Mangochi District.
General Alliance Finance Manager Samuel Nyasulu said the company appreciated the role of accountants in the country and the role of Icam in upholding accounting standards.
The indaba is being held under the theme ‘Navigating the Rough Economic Terrain; Moving Forward Regardless of the Challenges.
“Looking at the theme, we believe that, by the end of the conference, many accountants, including us from General Alliance, will have acquired knew knowledge of going about our duties especially now that the Covid pandemic is here to stay,” Nyasulu said.
Icam Director of Education and Training Chrissie Jere hailed the firm for the support.
“The conference is special in that it tackles issues relating to trends in the times we live in. It will provide an opportunity for accountants to share ideas on industry trends and network with peers,” Jere said.
Over 900 accountants are expected to attend the conference.
