Genetrix teams top hockey league
Genetrix men’s and ladies’ sides have taken the on-going FMB 11-Aside Hockey League by storm after taking an early lead.
Genetrix Ladies defeated Braves 2-1 to continue with their perfect four-game winning run that has translated to 12 points.
Defending champions, Simba, beat Hockey Dreams 4-0 to stay on second position with nine points. Simba have lost once in four games.
Nyala are on fifth position with three points from three games whereas Braves, who drew two-all against Hockey Dreams, are on third position with six points.
Scorpions thrashed Hockey Dreams 6-0 to remain on fourth position with three points.
Dreams anchor the table without a point from three games.
In the men’s league, Genetrix cemented their lead in their quest to defend the title when they beat Braves 3-1.
Genetrix have nine points from three games.
Scorpions, who baptised Hockey Dreams 11-3, are second with seven points whereas Nyala are third with three points from three games.
Braves lie on fourth position with two points from three games whereas Hockey Dreams anchor the table with a point from three matches.
Southern Region Hockey Committee Chairperson, Richmond Liabunya, said the league was progressing well.
“So far, 36 goals have been scored in the women’s section and 43 goals on the men’s side. There is an improvement in discipline and standard of play. It is now more competitive, which makes the league exciting,” he said.
