Lilongwe-based musician George Kalukusha starts 2020 on a high note as he is set to go on a tri-city tour next month.

Kalukusha, who has performed in several platforms and last year was part of the menu at the Lake of Stars Festival dubbed Discovery, said Thursday the tri-city was part of reaching out to the people with his music.

“It’s exciting to get into this tri-city tour. I am ready and I can promise people in the cities of Blantyre, Lilongwe and Zomba that it will be massive,” the singer and guitarist said.

Kalukusha’s tri-city tour will take him to Pakachere Backpackers in Zomba on February 7 before dating Flood Church Building in Blantyre the following day and will wind up the tour with a performance at Jungle Events Garden in Lilongwe on February 15.

The musician described 2019 for him as exciting and amazing in that he made it to the top three of Mr Eazi’s EmPawa Africa competition which had 16,000 applicants.

“It is all praise to God for the talent. 2019 I managed to co-write on Mr Eazi’s ‘Key to the Kingdom’, a song which was chosen by Beyoncé for her Lion King soundtrack,” he said.

In the year 2019, the artist also went on to sign a publishing deal with EmPawa Africa.

“It is therefore clear to say that 2020 is sure to be a trailblazing year for me and so, in light of this I am taking my new music on the road,” Kalukusha said.

He said he selected Zomba, Blantyre and Lilongwe because they are the major cities of the country.

“I know Mzuzu is a major city but for now I don’t have anyone on the ground and I have been trying to perform there for a while. I hope to get through,” Kalukusha said.
