Times Group Editor-in- Chief George Kasakula bade farewell to the media house Monday.

He joined Times Group six years ago at a time the company was rebranding from a print media house to an all-rounder media house, proudly referred to as Malawi’s only 360-degree media house. The giant media house has print media outlets such as The Daily Times, Malawi News and The Sunday Times, online media platforms such as FYI and Times 360 Malawi Facebook page and such electronic media platforms as Times Radio and Times Television.

In his tenure, the media has grown its audience on the electronic platform, winning several awards along the way.

Kasakula bade farewell to newsroom reporters and editors, thanking them for being part of his team and encouraging them to value team work and make Times Group’s story even more successful through collaborative efforts.

“I am proud to have worked with this team. Times Group is what it is now because of you all and our collaborative effort. Leaving this place after six years does not mean it has downgraded; I simply want to face new challenges,” he said.

In an emotion-filled moment, Chimwemwe Mangazi, The Daily Times’ business reporter, described Kasakula as a boss who also posed as a father figure to those that were reporting to him.
