After a three-week break, Rainbow Paints Blantyre and Districts Netball League returns to action with giants Tropical Queens and First Choice Tigresses battling for pride and glory at College of Medicine Sports Complex this afternoon.
The league was on break following renovations taking place at Blantyre Youth Centre, which has prompted administrators to seek alternative venues.
Both Queens and Tigresses have promised to produce sparkling performance to light up the netball hub.
Queens Coach, Christina Mkwanda-Nsinji, said having lost the first round match 35- 30 they cannot afford to go down again.
“We need to be alert to get a good result. I know my players are willing to play according to instructions so that we should achieve our mission,” she said.
Queens, formerly known as Thunder and MTL Queens, will bank on experienced defender Joanna Kachilika, centre Thandie Galeta and shooter Emily Jere.
Tigresses Coach, Peace Chawinga-Kaluwa, said this was a crucial match because each team was looking for maximum points.
“It’s a must win game for every team. Thunder is a very good team and are on top of their game as of now. So we definitely need to handle them with caution. Otherwise this is another crucial match. We are going to apply the strategies which we think can work against thunder. We have looked at all areas and deployed what we know will be effective and make us carry the day,” she said.
Tigresses are third on the table and trail leaders Kukoma Diamonds by two points.
Tigresses have 30 points from 16 games whereas Diamonds top the table with 32 points from the same number of games.
Tropical are second on goal difference with 32 points but have played 18 games.
