Blantyre-based musician Goma Nyondo will on May 30 release his first music project in form of Extended Playlist (EP) titled Mazgo Ghabalala.

The artist, who has starred with a number of bands in the country including Mibawa, said yesterday that the EP will only be available online.

“It is time to embrace technology and this is why I have decided to have the EP online only. I just want to call upon people to support me on this project,” he said.

Currently starring for Active X Band, Nyondo has shown strength in both vocals and playing instruments with the guitar as his best instrument.

“I am calling this my first music project because it is the first product I am giving to the people. I have worked with Mibawa in my other music project but it has not yet seen the light of the day. I am happy with the growth I have made,” Nyondo said.

The singer and guitarist, has worked on an EP which is dominated by Tumbuka songs.

“Music has no boundary and so whether you do it in your own language it does not matter. People will love the music just like I have loved making it. The songs in the EP tackle various issues from love patriotism, hope and folktales,” he said.

The seven track EP has songs such as ‘Mazongwe’, ‘Moto Kumapiri’, ‘Alright’, ‘Ndakukonda’, ‘Malawi Dyambone’ and ‘Mwene Nkhongono’.

He said he was hoping that the EP will put him in the limelight and show the world that he has what it takes to excel in the music industry.

“I have been active in terms of live performances and I will continue to do so. The songs I have in my EP show the best of talent from Malawi,” Nyondo said.

The artist has also performed at the Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Session.
