Football Association of Malawi’s (FAM) Competitions and Media Manager, Gomezgani Zakazaka, is in Mbankomo, Cameroon, attending a three-day Confederation of Africa Football (Caf) Media Officers’ Capacity Building seminar.
The seminar started on Sunday and ends tomorrow, Zakazaka confirmed from Cameroon yesterday.
Zakazaka is among 21 media officers from English-speaking football associations gathered at the Caf Centre of Excellence for the second seminar following the inaugural one held in December 2014.
The workshop is among other issues, covering topics such as media operations during major competitions, conceiving and applying digital strategy, Caf marketing and media and the importance of social media in football.
“You cannot talk about football development without mentioning the media. As football administrators, we need to be equipped with modern ways on how to fully use the media in promoting the game,” Zakazaka said.
“This workshop is very important to Malawi football because my interaction with top media gurus from Caf, Fifa and other African nations will give me an insight on the best media practices in football administration.”
Caf Media Director, Junior Binyam, said the seminar was organised to assess the progress made in improving media operations in member associations since the last one in 2014.
“But again, we would like to share with you latest developments in media operations as well as regulations and guidelines for Caf competitions from 2017 starting with the 2017 Total African Cup of Nations in Gabon,” he said.
