Good things will happen to you

By Patrick Achitabwino:

What is that million-kwacha dream that you crave to achieve in life? No one else should deceive you that the goal that you set for yourself is impossible. However, it is necessary to take note that, for you to attain the goal that is at the core of your heart, you first have to envision that it is possible.

The inspiring and motivational Les Brown adamantly says: “Most people live far below their potential because they do not believe that they can have more than what they have now.”

Are you living the life of your dreams? Are you producing to your level best? Do you live with the perception and conviction that you can do better? To most of us, it is crystal clear that we are fed up with the way our life rolls. We totally comprehend that we are below what we expect to be at present.

In all fairness, the thing that blocks us from scaling to the pinnacle of our dreams is that inherently we believe that good things will not happen to us.

We find language suitable for those that good things seem to happen to …they are well educated; they come from rich families; they have the backing of political figures; they are corrupt; they are beneficiaries of nepotism… the list goes on. It is our inner conversations that are the greatest stumbling blocks to the attainment of our dreams.

Most of us would not believe, but here is the thing: it is easy to earn a million kwacha than to believe that ‘it can happen to me.’

To be successful in life begins with a total transformation of oneself, to start looking at things positively, to take risks, to do things that others cannot do. It is very simple and several motivational speakers have emphasised many times before: ‘You must be willing to do today the things that others won’t do in order to have the things tomorrow that others won’t have’.

It is necessary that you realise that success entails discipline and mental conditioning that feeds on self-belief. Fear no failure and, even when you fail, anticipate that positives will emanate from the failures of the day.

Les Brown is very clear: “Anything worth doing is worth doing badly until you get it right”.

Never underestimate the unpolished greatness in you. You are endowed with knowledge that can see all good things coming to you. You have the talent that can attract opportunities to you. You have the skills that can make you stand out and see you being the preferred choice wherever you are.

It is not rocket science to see you being outstanding. It starts with polishing the diamond you have. The inalienable truth in life is that you do not have to be great to get started; you have to get started to be great.

Ignore how others attempt to sway you away from your dream with their negative viewpoints. It is you who knows how good you are and only you can achieve the dream that you set. Do not accept to be ordinary. Believe that you are extraordinary. All extraordinary people start from the ordinary point.

In this world you have equal opportunities with everybody to be at the receiving end of good things. Where you come from does not matter. The family you were born in does not matter. What matters is how you get focused with your life.

Remember, you do not get in life what you want; you get in life what you are. Come to realise that we all have common sense but what we lack in attainment of our dreams is common practice.

Good things will happen in your life if you keep your commitment to your commitment. The simple truth is that uncommitted life is not worth living. Good things will happen to you as long as you position your belief system in anticipation of good things.
