Gospel musician Ronald Thamakera last Sunday performed at Classic Lodge in Mchinji where he excited people.
The musician famed for the song ‘Mau Anu,’ has embarked on a rural evangelism drive which will see him holding performances in rural areas.
With several gospel musicians restricting themselves to performing in the urban areas, Thamakera said he wants to make sure that people in the rural areas are not sidelined.
The artist received an overwhelming support during the show in Mchinji where he performed several songs from his latest album Mau Anu which he plans to launch next year.
Thamakera performed in Mchinji for the first time.
“I never thought I would receive such support from people in Mchinji being my first time. I am speechless with the support and this is not the first but the beginning of more performances in Mchinji,” he said during his performance.
The musician said he is targeting performances in Balaka, Phalombe, Mulanje, Zomba, Salima and Lilongwe among other areas.
His Manager Chris Loka said the idea to organise gospel shows in different districts came after observing that most musicians in the country stick to the same venues when it comes to live shows, sidelining other areas, where people are thirsty for the word of God and entertainment.
“People in the rural areas are hungry for the word of God as well as live gospel shows but artists have not been forthcoming. Apart from watching some of the performances through music videos they would love to watch live performances,” said Loka.
Some of the shows which Thamakera has lined up include Lumbadzi Assemblies of God on June 26, Mulanje Secondary School Hall on July 30, Phalombe Secondary School Hall on July 31 and October 30 at Motel Domwe in Dedza.
