This year’s GOtv Netball Champions League is expected to be launched at Blantyre Youth Centre on Saturday, sponsor MultiChoice Marketing Manager, Chimwemwe Nyirenda, has confirmed.
He said the tournament will be played under the theme of Women empowerment.
“The trophy depicts the strength of women when they join hands and achieve something big together. The trophy has been designed by a local craftsman, which is also one of the ideals of GOtv to promote local talent in netball as well as in creative arts,” he said.
The competition is returning after a year-long break, with teams set to compete using a Fast5 format. After the launch in Blantyre, two other rounds are scheduled for Mzuzu and Lilongwe.
The fast-paced format is meant to help Malawi National Netball Team players to prepare for the Fast5 Netball World Series set for October in Australia.
Defending champions Kukoma Diamonds, Tigresses, Thunder Queens, Blue Eagles Sisters, Mafco Soldiers, Civonets, Mimosa Queens and Lameck Queens will compete in the tournament.
