President Peter Mutharika has appointed a technical team which will continue to engage with the Public Affairs Committee (Pac) on matters of national interest.
In a statement released on Wednesday, government argues that it has appointed the team because it values dialogue.
“The State President moved to appoint this team because he values and prioritises dialogue on matters of national interest. The President wishes both the government technical team and the Pac fruitful dialogue as we build Malawi,” reads the statement.
Commenting on the matter Pac Executive Director Robert Phiri described the appointment of the technical team as a good development.
“I can confirm that we received the letter from government with the list of the technical team. As Pac we will work on the composition of our technical team tomorrow (today), so that we are able to meet them next week on Monday,” Phiri said.
The government technical team comprises Samuel Tembenu, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, who is also the Chairperson and spokesperson of the team; Collins Magalasi, Chief Economic Advisor and Executive Assistant to the President; Mavuto Bamusi, Special Advisor and Assistant to the President on NGOs and Civil Society; Peter Kumpalume, Minister of Health and Hetherwick Ntaba, Chief Advisor to the President on Domestic Policy.
