Government for quality healthcare service

By Pemphero Malimba:
The government has reiterated its commitment to the promotion of good health among the citizenry.
Health Minister Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda said this during her tour of Ntcheu District healthcare service provision points on Friday.
She said one of the issues they wanted to address was that of quality of service provision and healthcare infrastructure.
“The working environment in many healthcare service facilities is not that good, in terms of infrastructure, and we, as the government, fully endorse proposals that some healthcare service centres be expanded.
“We appreciate the good work healthcare workers are doing in the country and that is the reason we are committed to improving the working environment so that the country can be one of those providing quality services,” Kandodo Chiponda said.
During the tour, Manjawira Health Centre in-charge Innocent Kabudula told the minister that they needed more wards and staff houses.
“We, as people that work at a healthcare service facility that serves 200 patients on average daily, need more space to execute our duty effectively.
“Our facility is close to the M1 Road, where it becomes a challenge when we receive road accident victims. When we have enough wards and staff houses, we will not be overwhelmed by work and will help the Ministry of Health fulfill its mission of providing quality healthcare,” Kabudula said.
