The government has warned people that are flouting Covid rules, saying its recent decision to ease restrictions on gatherings did not mean people were free to violate other Covid rules.
Government spokesperson Gospel Kazako told The Daily Times that Covid restrictions earlier issued by the Presidential Taskforce on Covid were still valid.
“It is especially expected, without exception, that the indoor and outdoor limit of 250 people during gatherings will be complied with by all as announced by the taskforce during the press conference of September 11 2021.
“According to the law, where necessary, enforcement officers may order a gathering to disperse and may use reasonable force to cause the gathering to disperse,” Kazako said.
Ministry of Health spokesperson Adrian Chikumbe said the only review that took place was easing of travel restrictions and increasing the number of people that can gather in one place from 100 to 250.
“Since these restrictions became law, the ministry expects law enforcers to ensure that all these measures are being religiously followed until at a time they are removed,” Chikumbe said.
