Minister of Information Gospel Kazako has urged decision-makers to make full use of the Malawi Data Dissemination Platform which the National Statistical Office (NSO) has developed
Kazako made the call in Lilongwe Thursday during the launch of the platform.
He said it is impressive that NSO has found this way of disseminating data.
“Data that are not accessible are useless. This platform is, therefore important, as it will make crucial information easily accessible. I appeal to all decision-makers to fully utilise this platform,” Kazako said.
The Malawi Data Dissemination Platform is one of the products developed from the 2018 Population and Housing Census.
Kazako said Population and Housing Census data were important can be used to plan, monitor and evaluate interventions aimed at uplifting people’s lives
Commissioner of Statistics Mercy Kanyuka said the platform would ease challenges people seeking information were experiencing.
“In the past, people could write letters, e-mails and use many other forms of communication to get information from our office. With this platform, it will now be easy to access data from NSO. It is user-friendly and everyone is able to access it anytime, anywhere,” Kanyuka said.
NSO organised the event with support from the United Nations Populations Fund. Other key stakeholders who played a crucial role in the 2018 Malawi Population and Housing Census include the Royal Norwegian Embassy and Standard Bank.
