Govt, World Bank ink $145 million Blantyre sanitation deal

The World Bank and the Malawi government have signed a water and sanitation grant worth $145 million (approximately K147 billion) to help improve water and sanitation in Blantyre.
The deal has been signed by Minister of Finance Sosten Gwengwe and World Bank Country Manager for Malawi Hugh Ridell.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Mia said the money will be used to increase access to water, repair broken water and sanitation infrastructure and construction of public toilets in schools.
