Graviton Pasanje popularly known as GD of the renowned hip hop group Daredevils on Friday wedded his long time fiancée Grace Chilambe.
The two privately exchanged vows at the registrar’s office in Blantyre.
They then celebrated their marriage with close friends and family on Sunday.
Commenting on why they chose to go for a private wedding, GD said:
“My wife and I are very private people and frugal too so we knew that a big and lavish wedding will make us very uncomfortable, which is the opposite of what a wedding day should be so we decided to go for something that would make us happy, a simple private and intimate ceremony.”
The reception took place at Kaminjolo’s Residence in Chinyonga and was graced by a number of urban artists.
Some of the notable artists who attended the wedding included Barry One, Cyclone, Hyphen, Fredokiss, Big Lu, Young Love, Manje, Haso and GD’s younger brother Marcus who is also the other member of Daredevils.
GD’s wedding follows another urban artist, Iceberg real name Dalitso Mtambo of Bossaro Music Group who also took to the podium to exchange matrimonial vows with his sweetheart Lindiwe Bwanaope last weekend.
To the people who are thinking marriage will slow him down and eventually kill his rapping and production career, GD said:
“Getting married has given me a new kind of energy, I feel invigorated and ready to take on the world and this time I am bringing my side kick wifey.”
Some urban artists who are married but still continue to pursue their musical careers include Dan Lu and Phyzix.
