Griffin Saenda dares squad
By Mphatso Malidadi:
Malawi national netball team Coach, Griffin Saenda Senior, has warned that he is ready to drop star players if they fail to impress in training.
“We want players that are committed and ready to execute instructions.
The players must fight to deserve a place in the team. Otherwise, I am not looking at names but performance and commitment of each player,” he said.
Saenda is drilling his charges ahead of the Fast 5 Netball World Series set for Hisense Arena in Melbourne, Australia, from October 27 to 28.
The Queens’ performance at last year’s event was below par as they slumped from position three to six.
Saenda believes that his charges can impress at the games.
“From what I have observed during the first days in camp, we are impressed. The players are really fighting hard to impress me. I want to turnaround our fortunes,” he said.
Malawi will be without injured shooter Mwawi Kumwenda of Melbourne Vixens in Australia, who is recovering from injury.
Shooter Joyce Mvula has returned to Manchester Thunder in the United Kingdom after being recalled to feature in British Fast Five5 set for mid-October.
