Gurtej Nain, Ruth Mvula shine in Nico General golf
Mzuzu-BASED golfer Gurtej Nain outclassed a field of 75 golfers to win Nico General individual stable ford golf tournament held over the weekend at Kasasa Golf Club’s nine-hole course in Nkhotakota.
The veteran golfer proved his worth when he amassed 36 points beating Blantyre-based golfer Gift Mwakhwawa on position two with 35 points.
Vincent Madikura of Kasasa club counted out Thomas Malopa on 34 points to finish third.
For being champion, Nain got LED Plasma TV plus a trophy. In his victory speech, Nain was delighted with the feat saying it was his day.
“I was prepared for this wonderful tournament and I played good golf despite the windy weather on the golf course. I have enjoyed the competition and I would like to thank Nico General for sponsoring the event,” said Nain
I Madikura also won the nearest to pin while Lilongwe-based golfer Partridge Shycal got the longest drive.
In the ladies category, Ruth Mvula of Kasasa showed her class to finish as the winner with 40 points followed by Blantyre-based golfer Lilian Kawaza with 34 points.
It was double celebration for Mvula as she also won the longest drive.
All the winners got various prizes and trophies courtesy of Nico General.
Speaking during the prize presentation, Nico General Chief Executive Officer, Eric Chapola described the golf tournament as a success.
He said the golf competition was good platform to interact with its customers across the country.
“It was a great event to interact with our customers. As sponsors, we are very delighted with the turn-out of 75 golfers across the country and it was a wonderful tournament,” said Chapola.
Nico General also donated a K200, 000 for the maintenance of the greens at Kasasa Golf Club.
