Gwamba back with ‘Jesus is my Boss’ tournament

Gospel rapper, Gwamba, has announced the return of the K2 million ‘Jesus is my Boss’ football tournament which targets Lilongwe.

The tournament, formerly known as Better Energy Drink Trophy, is back after a one-year break. The inaugural tournament took place in 2016 and was won by Black Leboz and Eagles Sisters Youth in football and netball respectively.

“We took a break to concentrate on other projects which included the launch of my album and my personal website. Now that the two projects were successfully launched, it’s time to bring back the tournament and celebrate the success with everyone and thank them for the love and support,” said Gwamba who is the sponsor of the tournament.

He also elaborated on why the tournament only targets areas around Area 18 than keeping it open to everyone. Gwamba has lived in this area for over 13 years, hence a very special connection with the people.

The tournament is expected to take place from October 1 to 31 and the participating areas are Area 18, Area 30, Senti, Chimoka, Guliver and Dubai.

Super League players will not be allowed to play in this tournament and registration has already started, that’s according to Gilbert Kaunda, the tournament’s administrator.

“We have opened registration for teams and we are only allowing non super league players in a drive to promote raw talent and ensure fairness among participating clubs. One object of this tournament is to expose young talent for the super League clubs and this is the only right way,” said Kaunda.

The tournament which will be spiced by live performances.

“We will soon announce names of artists. What is most definite is that myself and Emmanuel (formerly known as Emm Q) will perform at the finals,” revealed Gwamba.
