Hip-hop artist Gwamba has entered into a partnership with Mzuzu City Council and Grand Palace Hotel which seeks to promote raw talent, boost tourism and culture in the Northern Region.
Speaking during a press briefing in Mzuzu Monday, Gwamba, who last year launched his new album titled True Independence, said he is scouting for talent in the Northern Region which he will feature at his concert as a way of exposing them.
The ‘Bwanji’ and ‘Mapiko’ star said emerging activities will be announced in due course.
“The partnership is for the Gwamba Unlimited Concert and the difference with the other activities is that this one is focusing on the Northern Region and we want to reach out to many sectors through this event,” he said.
Mayor for Mzuzu City, Gift Nyirenda, said Mzuzu is the hub of the Northern Region, which is why they want to be involved in activities that aim at promoting the region.
Nyirenda added that delivery of messages related to the event will include awareness campaigns on payment of city rates and keeping the city clean.
“This is just the beginning of partnerships with artists and, going forward, we will be signing more partnerships to see our youths being promoted,” he said.
The Gwamba Unlimited Concert will take place on August 26 2023.
Gwamba last held a concert at Mzuzu Stadium in 2021.
